Lowndes Grove Plantation Slavery. The last great waterfront estate on the charleston peninsula reopened in march 2008 with its relaxed and refined essence and stunning settings for truly spectacular events. Our ancestors were slaves on these plantations. The spokesperson for mcleod plantation failed to return our calls. These six parcels, totaling 11,019 acres, are located in charleston, colleton, beaufort, and hampton counties.
